What we’re doing to make our website accessible for you.

This accessibility statement applies to www.abbeymedical.com.

This website is run by SW Healthcare. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

For example, that means you should be able to:

  • use your web browser to change colours, contrast levels and fonts

  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen

  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard

  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

  • access the website using a mobile or tablet.

On sections that don’t provide technical information, we’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

  • Colour contrast in some areas may not be sufficient for every device.

  • Page structures and heading orders may affect users using keyboard navigation or other assistive technology.

  • iFrames in some areas of the site are missing titles.

  • Contact Us page map may not announce itself on every device.

  • Embedded NHS.UK widgets may not announce themselves properly on every device.

  • OpenStreetMap widget used for practice catchment area map has insufficient colour contrast, and may not work on every device.

  • Backup Google Translate widget in footer isn’t contained by a landmark - so may not be picked up by all devices.

  • Embedded YouTube videos have low contrast and link text that is used for multiple different destinations.

As this website is updated regularly between accessibility audits, it’s possible that the following non-compliances may occur. If these cause a problem for you, please do not hesitate to let us know.

  • Some form elements may be missing descriptions.

  • Some elements may be missing keyboard focus.

  • Some links identified only by colour.

  • Some link text is used for multiple different destinations.

  • Some image links may be missing alternative text.

  • Heading is missing text in some areas.

PDFs and other documents

Some of our PDFs and Word documents are essential to providing our services. For example, we have PDFs on medical policy information.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.

Live video

We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. However if there is a specific document that you would like to request in HTML format we will do our best to oblige where possible and practicable.

How we tested this website

We tested this website in the following ways:

  • Manual audit using the W3C validator

  • Testing using screen reader devices

  • Testing using disability simulator tools

  • Automated audits using WAVE and axe DEVTools
